The Origin Story
My journey into staging and design began way back around the age of 9. Having always had a strong design instinct and passion for pretty homes, I redecorated and rearranged most of my friends’ houses as well as my own—much to the dismay of many unprepared mother’s! Moving the furniture and décor around without their consent wasn’t always met with enthusiasm, but it did teach me a valuable lesson down the road: working with clients who aren’t receptive to change. Even my own mother was resistant to painting walls. Why?????
Growing up in a family of realtors (Dad, Mom and brother) also gave me a unique perspective on the real estate world—one that isn’t all “sold” signs, BMWs, and huge paychecks. I saw first hand how difficult Real Estate can be behind the scenes. From endless paperwork, long hours (evenings and weekends), clients with unrealistic expectations and the inevitable curveballs of the market.
My experience in business management began when I was given the opportunity to launch a new branch from the ground up for the company I worked for, which I successfully ran for over 14 years, building my strengths and skills along the way. Learning the ins and outs of what goes on behind the scenes of any small business proved invaluable to me when I decide to start my own.
I enrolled at BCIT for Interior Design, but it was a little book I found at Chapters by Barb Schwarz (pictured below) that introduced me to the world of home staging—and I instantly knew I had found my calling. (I also completed the Real Estate course, but quickly realized it wasn’t the right career path for me.) I decided to combine what truly inspired me with my knowledge of real estate and business, and that’s how home staging became my focus.
In 2006, with a ton of encouragement from my husband (and a few sleepless nights—ha-ha, who are we kidding, dozens of sleepless nights), I took a massive leap of faith, leaving a perfectly good paying job to start a company of my own.
Fast-forward almost 20 years, and my one-woman operation has grown into a multi-award-winning company, with annual sales exceeding a million dollars and a powerhouse team of talented women. Who knew moving furniture and fluffing pillows could lead to this kind of success?

Still in Love with What I Do
I’m happy to report that my love for staging and design hasn’t faded—if anything, it’s grown stronger. Watching homes transform from “meh” to “wow” never get sold. Anyone who knows me knows my excitement levels can reach a fevered pitch, and I still clap my hands like a seal when I see a recent transformation.
The Highs, the Lows, and the Lessons
Over the years, I’ve faced challenges, triumphs, and everything in between
There were some really difficult years where I felt incredibly alone-running a small business is not for the faint of heart. Many days I thought, “What on earth did I get myself into?” But every late night, every mistake, and every tough lesson shaped me into the person I am today. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. And let’s not even talk about Covid…ugh.
The highs have been amazing. Every award and recognition (honestly, every GOOGLE review) over the years fills me with pride and gratitude. I’ve had so much fun! Getting the opportunity to travel the world (Las Vegas, Australia) attend and speak at conventions, and make relationships along the way with amazing clients and colleagues—many of whom have gone on to become lifelong friends.
Another one of the impactful parts of this journey has been introducing and mentoring a number of women into the world of staging, many who have gone on to run their own companies. I genuinely wish each of them the best as they continue their journeys. Knowing I’ve contributed to launching so many careers in this industry is something I’ll always value.
The Real MVPs
The backbone of any strong organization is a unified and supportive team, and I would be remiss not to give a shout out to mine. These women are the reason for our success! Every day, they bring their own unique perspectives to the table, and together, we create truly remarkable results. From brainstorming sessions, to hauling decor up three flights of stairs, their dedication and talent are unmatched. It’s not just about working together, it’s about the bond we share and the way we lift each other up, no matter what. I feel incredibly grateful for all of them.

I also feel immense gratitude for our clients. You’ve trusted us with your homes, even when it meant convincing you that yes, the zebra-print rug or live laugh love sign had to go. You’ve been the heartbeat of this journey, and I can’t thank you enough.
Looking Ahead
As we reach the halfway point of 2025, I’m buzzing with excitement. The future looks bright, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Novari Collective. Spoiler: it involves more stunning spaces, happy clients, and maybe a few more awards for the trophy shelf (a girl can dream, right?).
